Asalam alaikum,
My name is Hana Alasry. I am a student at the University of Detroit Mercy in Detroit, MI. I have a degree in Nutrition & Food Science and Health Psychology. I am currently completing my Physician Associate degree. My passions include writing and community organizing. I have held board positions for two years in a row at my university's Muslim Students' Association (MSA). My longest running community work has been with MAS Youth in their Detroit chapter as part of both youth development, activism and tarbiya. In the past, I've been an organizer for MIST Detroit (Muslim Interscholastic Tournaments).
I am the co-founder of a program named TANG (Thinking About the Next Generation) that aims to tackle the issues of Muslim Identity Crisis and Ageism in the Muslim Community through purposeful workshops and initiative development.
I intend to use this blog to document my reflections on life and my perceptions as shaped by my journey through faith as a Muslimah. I also intend for it to be a resource to others in similar stand-points in life, whether you also study nutrition, also do youth work or are also a part of an MSA. If you ever wish to share the blog posts, please feel free to do so, but I do ask that you credit the blog site and post a link to the website.
Feel free to shoot me an email with post suggestions, questions and/or comments by clicking the contact button above.
Much love and peace,
H. Al.
